Where is My AI:
Key Findings From our Panel Discussion

Dear
Our second AI event for the year, Where is my AI: Real Life Applications, was held on October 10, 2024, in Palo Alto in connection with SF Tech Week, with a distinguished panel of experts and a highly engaged audience. Below are the five key insights from this discussion:
- AI is already fairly pervasive in industries, but a much broader transformation requires a new architecture. Some systems may need to be reimagined from scratch and designed from the beginning for AI capabilities. We need a new architecture.
- Voice is going to win! Voice is the king and the most effective way to communicate information and get transactions done. Future UIs must evolve—“UI should be generated and context-aware,” eliminating the need for manual design.
- Integrating AI into existing systems is difficult; real transformation requires “new architecture” designed from the ground up. Traditional software emphasizes reliability and predictability, but “AI is the opposite—it is creative, unpredictable, and unreliable.”
- Consumer AI will depend on major platforms like Apple, Google, and Amazon, though many of these companies face the “innovator’s dilemma” and are slow to incorporate useful AI applications.
- LLMs will gradually creep into our lives, but it will take some time. The first 80% of the problem is the easiest to solve, and the last 10-20% is a lot more than half the work. We are still a long way from getting there.
